Britany Barnes has invited her ward to join us and help us with handwriting the letters to get funds for our club. There will be treats, and a fun environment as you write the night away.

The more letters we write the more money we get for the club! The more people we get the faster we will be done and we can continue with the party! :)

Volunteer at SibShop

Date: Saturday, November 14, 2009
Time: 8:00am - 12:00pm
Location: 645 W Center St. Orem (Mountain View High School)

For those of you not taking the PRAXIS exam, or taking it at UVU, there is a great need for SCEC volunteers at a "Super Sibshop" to provide respite care for children with disabilities:
Saturday, November 14---ANY TIME from 8:30 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. (volunteers will be provided with lunch)
Dr. Dyches has asked that anyone who can come should walk in to the front desk and ask where the sib shops are.
Our critical volunteer times are between 8:30-10. We’ll have a movie from 10-12, then the last hour we will need helpers.
We could use probably 4-5 more volunteers.

Oakridge Policy Meeting

We have the great opportunity to receive valuable information and help on how we can become more involved in influencing those who make decisions about providing services for people with disabilities.  We believe this is a serious community issue that deserves our support and input.

Please join us on November 10th at 6:00 p.m. at Oakridge School for this presentation by Kris Fawson.  Kris will also be prepared to answer quetsions and help us make plans to systematically address this issue.

Oakridge School is located at 780S 1350E Springville, UT 84663.  The phone number is (801) 491-2165.

This panel will consist of the following individuals: a general education teacher, a mild/moderate special education teacher, a severe special education teacher, an administrator, a parent of a child with disabilities, and a student with disabilities. The panel will begin by answering previously e-mailed questions (which can be emailed to your professors or byuscec@gmail.com) and will move into an open forum. Refreshments will be served. In the Beginning

This is the first post ever to grace the electronic cyber-pages of BYU's new SCEC (Student Council for Exceptional Children) blog.  This blog will be used to announce and report on SCEC events, give information about SCEC (and its connection to the National Council for Exceptional Children, CEC), and make access to information about individuals with disabilities more accessible.  For future followers of this blog, may you follow it with great satisfaction, joy, and a lot of other corny words that it would be embarrassing to type, but we hope you feel them all the same.
